Flashback Friday: Kenny Chesney

Wow! Yesterday was a complete surprise! Yesterday after lunch, Chase called my office and asked me if I could be ready to go somewhere by 6:00. Well why not?! After prying him for hints on what to wear, I quickly narrowed it down to a Birmingham Barons game over at Regions Park....and then it hit me on the way home, WRONG! (Maybe) Just maybe he was surprising me with Kenny Chesney tickets since he was in town last night! Oh boy was I right!
For those of you who haven't known me as long as a few others, I am a HUGE fan! In fact, last night was my FIFTH Kenny concert to attend. I can remember riding with my ohsohip neighbors Kelly and Joe were taking my best friend and next door neighbor, Beth and I to eat Mexican one night and I can remember hearing that beautiful country voice for the first time. (Kelly and Joe were in their early twenties, newlyweds and for some reason thought that the annoying 8th graders across the street would be fun to take to eat on Fridays, church gatherings and family picnics.) As he sang, "When I Close My Eyes" I instantly fell in love. Being that we were in 7th and 8th grade, we quickly had to hide our love for country music, so we disguised it with Ginuwine and Blackstreet.

Fast forward 3 years to when I had a license, a boyfriend that loved country music and Kenny's latest hit, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy." Honey, I came outta the country music closet screaming! No more hiding my love for country....it was here to stay. I stepped out and I haven't taken one look back!

(Side note to readers: The first time I heard that wonderful song, I was watching my cousin try to figure out how to get his drunk hiney down from the top of a ski boat tow bar while singing this song.)
