Today is my un-birthday....until tomorrow!

Is it obvious? I’m quite sure it is. It’s only summer and I’ve only been home ONE weekend since May. Yep, you read that correctly. So I’m sorry dear blog for being slightly neglectful the past few weeks I wish I have something cool to share with you from something fabulous I found on the web, but unfortunately that would be a lost cause at the moment. How about a few anecdotes to keep you busy and up to speed on our demanding life?

Since my last posting, we’ve been to 2 more weddings. I won’t thrill you with the details, but congratulations to Jackie & Bill and Taylor & Jamey! We have OFFICIALLY ended the Allen’s Summer Wedding Palooza 2009 Season!! Hip, hip hooray!!! Although weddings are over for us, August has officially been filled to the max. That’s okay because ALABAMA FOOTBALL KICKS OFF IN 38 DAYS! HIPHIPHIPHIPHIPHIPHIPHOORAY!

A few weeks ago, I went home to visit God’s Country. My sister turned 23, I made special visits to meet new arrivals Jacob and Ellie Kaye and catch a fabulous production of Red, White and Tuna. My hometown has a live stage theatre that has an extremely talented cast. I can’t even begin to describe how bad my side hurt from laughing at this play. The only words to describe it are the ones belonging to the Kentucky Repertory Theatre itself, “The much anticipated third installment in the Tuna trilogy takes the audience through another satirical ride into the hearts and minds of the polyester-clad citizens of Texas’ third smallest town.” Enough said? Thought so.

Today I await the arrival of mom, dad and their new dog, Rosie. They’re coming to celebrate my birthday with Chase and me. I have a trip to St. Louis with Chase in a few weeks I can’t stop squealing about and my parents got me tickets to see The Temptations in September for my present. I think they’re trying to pad the fact that I’m getting older too… I’m thinking my excitement of birthdays may be drawing to a close. Yes, I’m excited to open my cards, hopefully find a little cash in a few of them, but turning 26 has made me realize that I’m closer to 30 than I am 20, and I don’t like it. I find myself trying stay the mid-20, but the inevitable is happening. I’m turning into my mom and aunt. (Lord give me strength!)

Regardless of turning a year older tomorrow, I am looking forward to the many things that the end of summer and fall seasons are bringing to the table. I have a wonderful husband, good friends and family, and I have season tickets to all the home Alabama Crimson Tide games. Life can’t get much better for a 26 year old.

We need to have a celebration lunch!! Let me know when you're free..

And this side of 30 isn't too bad. I just ignore that fact at my ripe old age of 27. (shudder)
