On the road again...

Well, it's summertime, which means we're never sitting around on the weekend! A weekend at the lake for Memorial Day weekend got us off to a great start!

Last weekend, one of my besties, Laura and I ventured up to Lexington, Kentucky for our best friend and sorority sister Laura Beth's son's first birthday! Sweet little Jacob had a wonderful ocean themed party. It was so nice to see my besties (even though we had two missing, but were there in spirit) and spend time together.

On our way back to Horse Cave and Bowling Green, Laura and took a detour home from Lexington and pretended we were on a 4th grade Kentucky History class field trip. We stopped and ventured the closest we had ever been to what Kentuckians know as The Castle in Versailles.

We then rounded the corner in Bardstown to stop and do a drive by of My Old Kentucky Home and making a circle around downtown Bardstown about four times. (Had we been in company of a designated driver, there would have been a taste testing of Maker's Mark!)

Once we finished with Bardstown, we took the back roads back to my hometown, stopping off at Knob Creek, near Hodgenville, to take a photo opp of Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home. (This is not to be confused with the birthplace, which is a few miles more down the road.)

Just when we thought we had made it back to my hometown....Laura exclaimed that she had never seen Hidden River Cave that is literally located in downtown Horse Cave. So we stopped off for a quick view of the cave.

During the twists and turns of our trip, we have decided that our tight knit group of friends that are known as The Brownies should start the planning phase of a touch-and-go tour of our home state. How lucky am I to have grown up in a state rich with a love for God, family, horse racing and bourbon!
