Holiday Hopping...again.

I'm doing it again! Everything I stand for, but with all good intentions aaaaaaaaaand reason! HOLIDAY HOPPING! I'm listening to a few Christmas tunes, because I am trying to get my sweet little business of Fridge Art Invites Christmas 2009 Collection together! I'm seeking inspiration for the frugalista Season Greeters! I have YET to start and I'm hoping to get a little ahead of the game! I will be posting as I go along, so look for some new content to this blog besides my personal life! :)

Also, Chase and I are in the midst of getting Fridge Art's website up and running!!!! FINALLY! I will make a formal announcement in the next few weeks!

Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Holiday Hopping!

Holiday Hopping - My uncle Linc defines this as one who skips important holidays and moves ahead to another. IE) The people who put their Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving. I will never understand why Birmingham Magic 96.5 FM decides to play their Christmas selection from November 1st-December 31st. Yes, you heard me correct.

Well friends and neighbors, I have committed a crime of Holiday Hopping! All on accident of course! I was perusing the Martha Stewart website and her Halloween decorations caught my eye!!! Yes, I looked, I learned, I loved!!
See for yourself!

I love this! My dining room center piece!

Finally! A use for those horrible "Gagamaggots" {Remember those horrible orange & black wrapped candies that you never ate from your Halloween loot?!}

It seems as if here lately my mind has been wandering towards the fall season that is rapidly approaching and I've started my research on great Halloween decor. {Blame it on the unseasonably mild Alabama weather we've been having!} One of my frequent follows in my blog roll is Urban Grace Interiors. My dear friend Meagan introduced me to Erika's amazing blog that displays her talents. In no way do I want to take any credit for her amazing entry on Halloween decor, so please check out the link.

What are some of your favorite fall decor? I would love to see any of your ideas....some that you wouldn't mind seeing duplicated with gratitude at the Allen house this fall. {You can bet though, I won't have up my Halloween motifs until October 1st!}

{Disclaimer: I am sorry if you are one of those people who loves to get the season started early but I simply CANNOT do this! It is a pet peeve of mine! I like for each holiday to be enjoyed to it's fullest extent and not have their thunder stolen!}

Happy Birthday America!!

I am a very patriotic person! Political...somewhat, but I LOVE the USA! I am a proud American and I love our country.

This past week/weekend, Chase along with about 12 other friends of ours spent the weekend out on Smith Lake. Rather than giving a long play-by-play, I think pictures with captions will do just fine!

We saw the infamous Buck Moth Caterpillar...my neighbor Rachel knows all about Buck Moths.

Rowen kept all the boys on their heels this weekend with stories, snacks and dancing.

We all floated in the lake during the day...and took our lake baths in it at night.

We took naps on the dock.

I decorated the Bayliner with festive decorations for our second attempt at the Annual Brushy Creek 4th of July Parade.

Only to get outdone.

Bet they didn't have a patriotic schnauzer aboard...

We topped the weekend off with fireworks and sparklers!

Happy Independence Day everyone!

The Spirit of America

I have to admit, this is a pretty darn exciting day for Americans young and old. I know...I'm Republican, right? Why am I so excited? I'm excited to see our country pouring out with excitement, patriotism and a love for their country. It's nice to see optimism during such a economically hard time. I'm excited to see what our new president has in store. It won't be an easy task....I know I'm sure glad I don't have his job. I pray for him, his family, and the cabinet, as they lead our country the next 4 years. I also lifted up a prayer for good old Dubya, because I still believe he did the best he could.

What can I say?! I love the United States and American history. I took a picture today of Obama taking his oath this morning, so that 50 years from now, I can look back and see where I was on such a monumental day.

Happy New Year!! (And 13 days!)

So maybe I wasn't cut out for the blogging world, but I'm giving it one last shot. Rather than rambling on about our lives (which aren't that exciting) I am going to use this blog to do the following:

A) Keep you up to speed on the happenings in our lives
B) Utilize this blog as a way to express what's going on in my head.

In case you didn't know (and how did you not?!) The creative wheels in my mind are ALWAYS turning. ALWAYS. I have so much stuff I want to do, but as quick as the ideas come, I forget about them. So in all great efforts, I will share with you my home projects, crafts, good finds, recipes...hell, just call me Martha Stewart! I promise to keep you posted on my life, but at the same time writing and posting about things that are my passion.

Happy Birthday America! Well....tomorrow at least.

Yeay! Last day of the work week! We're heading to our humble abode we lovingly call "The Mini-Biltmore" on Smith Lake tonight! Chase, Winston and I are going up tonight to get some work done, and then the in-laws, Hunter, Val-dog and Madison are coming tommorow at some point. I have a scrumptious menu planned out to make everyone's mouth water....and to prove to Chase that he married me for a reason. :)

This week has been short and busy. Starting with the weekend. Chase and I acted like true newly weds starting at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Restoration Hardware and Belk. We suited up with gift cards and bought some new outdoor furniture, a new comforter set and a lot of other really neat stuff. Saturday night, Chase, his cousin Emily and I all went to Tuscaloosa for our friends' Allison and Jeremy's wedding celebration! We couldn't exactly find the location in downtown, so we decided we needed to stop at Innisfree and take shots. 1 round of Jaeger bombs and a red snapper! They were magic shots, because right after that, we found the reception! After rounds of running back and forth between the party and back to Innisfree throughout the night, we decided to get a hotel in T'town and take on the town like we were back in college. I swear I felt like I was living in a crazy movie.

We put our new furniture together on Monday night celebrating with several glasses of wine, sushi and salmon. Tuesday we went to Moody to eat dinner with our good friends Meagan, Brent and their daughter Carter. Meg kept us laughing all evening long.
<-----The Brownies!!!!!
I thought I'd start blogging for several different reasons, but if you want me to get really self centered, I will. I have 4 best friends from school. We call ourselves The Brownies, and we are scattered among Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri and Indiana. We talk a lot, but I think that a blog would be a great way to still stay connected. I love those girls. It's funny, because we haven't all been best friends since the beginning of college. We picked up about our late junior year and it's been pure mayhem ever since! We all recently saw each other about 2 weeks ago, when Chase and I got hitched. They left the husbands at home and we partied like we were freshman again all weekend long.

That's it for now, gotta finish the menu for the weekend! Ciao!
PS. Our wedding photos are up now! Check them out...Clinton did a FABULOUS job!
